The Caring Hearts Ministry is an outreach to our community that provides food and clothing to needy families.
Located inside the Family Life Center, the food pantry is open on Tuesday afternoons from 1:30-3:30 pm for those having difficulty obtaining the basics of life. Clients can receive monthly help consisting of a food box with four complete dinners, breakfast items, several other food items, and three personal care items. They may also select some items of slightly-used clothing. Personal prayer requests will be accepted by the volunteers as well. Clients must provide a photo ID, address verification (like an electric bill), proof of children’s birthdays (birth certificate or school records), and must live in the 30024 or 30518 zip codes.
At Christmas, the ministry coordinates a project where Sunday School classes and church members adopt families in need of Christmas help. Each family receives a full Christmas meal, a family gift, and gifts for the children in the family. The joy of the families in need is wonderful to behold, but it is rivaled by the joy of those providing the meal and gifts. Pantry volunteers start accepting applications for Christmas assistance each year in September during the normal pantry hours. This must be done in person not over the phone.
The Caring Hearts Ministry depends completely on freewill donations of food, clothing, and financial assistance. All volunteers are trained. New volunteers are always welcome! Anyone interested in helping with this weekly ministry or with the Christmas project may contact Gail Mundy at firstname.lastname@example.org.
