Train up a child in the way he should go:
and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
The Weekday Preschool Ministry of Shadowbrook includes classes for ages fifteen months through kindergarten on various days throughout the week. The staff is made up of caring, loving individuals who each bring a special uniqueness to our ministry. We are prepared to give each child wonderful experiences and opportunities for growth and development mentally, physically, socially and spiritually.
For ages fifteen months through three, the curriculum is themed based. Your child will be introduced to developmental skills that are appropriate to their age, level of concentration and ability. The four year olds are taught pre-reading concepts and listening skills using children’s literature. Kindergarten preparation is accomplished using Beginning Reading, Listening, Writing by McGraw-Hill Learning Materials. Pre-Math Skills are mastered using Saxon Math. Kindergarten curriculum combines Modern Curriculum Press, Spectrum Spelling and Harcourt Brace to master phonics based reading and writing skills. Saxon Math is continued. D’Nealian writing skills are taught, and science and social studies are addressed developmentally through hands-on experiments and activities.
The children will go to chapel one or two times per week where they will learn Bible stories and songs. Throughout the school year we will seek to integrate Bible truths into our curriculum through classroom activities. Also, the children will have Art, Music and Spanish one day per week.
Our facilities meet all fire, safety and building regulations and all staff members are trained in First Aid and CPR. We have a safe, well maintained playground with quality age-appropriate equipment. We also have a Family Life Center for activities on cold or rainy days.
The hours are 9:30 am – 1:30 pm for ages 15 months through four, and kindergarten hours are 9:00 am – 1:30 pm. We do follow the Gwinnett County School Calendar for holidays and inclement weather.
