So Many Exciting Things

Hola Shadowbrook!

It’s been a couple days since we’ve updated you. So many exciting things are happening here. Here is a little recap:

Thursday – We spent the day at our ministry sites. During team time in the afternoon, we had a “culture” night where we tried Costa Rican fruits, coffee, and snacks.

Friday – After a day at ministry sites, we got to hear the testimony of a couple of the SI staff members. It was amazing to hear what God has done in their lives and how he brought each of them here. We have spent a lot of time sharing our own stories of how the Lord led us to Costa Rica, too. We also had a really amazing night of worship.

Saturday –  We got to spend the first half of the day at the beach in Jaco. It was a fun time of swimming, hanging out, drinking fresh coconut and eating a Costa Rican treat called Copas (kind of like a snow cone). Kennedy, a team member from The Well, was baptized in the ocean while we were there. How cool is that?! The second half of the day, we went zip-lining. The views were unbelievable.

Sunday – We began the day at the SI office for devotionals. We are studying 2 Timothy during our devotional time while we are here. Most days, we have about 20 minutes alone and come back together for discussion. Today, we were given an hour to just sit with the Lord to really listen to what He is saying to us. We journaled, prayed, wrote letters, created, and worshipped. Then, we headed to church. The service was in Spanish, but we all enjoyed the experience.

The second half of the day, we got to go to Jeff’s house and learn to make tamales. We spent a lot of time talking and connecting as a team. We were able to talk a lot about what God is doing in each of our lives and how he is using each of our gifts in a unique way.

We are excited and ready for another week at our ministry sites. Please pray for our team this week, specifically pray that we would continue to have open hearts and minds to what God wants each of us to learn. Please pray for the people we have the privilege of serving (Ticos/Ticas, SI staff, the team from The Well and our Shadowbrook team). We know that God has a specific purpose for each us here and are so thankful we have this opportunity to serve and hear from Him.

Pura Vida! Ciao for now!
